Wrote A. W. Pink in his book on Sanctification (see here):
"Inability to pay a debt does not excuse a debtor who has recklessly squandered his estate; nor does drunkenness excuse the mad or violent actions of a drunkard, but rather aggravates his crime. God has not lost His right to command, even though man through
his wickedness has lost his power to obey." (pg. 38)
