Luther vs. Zwingli

"Luther laid great stress on the Word of God as a means of grace. He called the Word vehlculum gratise. Zwingli did not consider that God needed any means of grace, but that He operated directly through the Spirit." (pg. 411)

I did not know that Zwingli was a Hyper Calvinist in denying means in the new birth.
