Hudson's "New Birth"

Under an article titled "Regeneration or New Birth," By Woodrow W. Hudson, and published at a Hardshell Baptist web page (see below), the writer said:

"The elect of God do believe in the truth in due time. "As many as were ordained to eternal life believed." (Acts 13:48) This Scripture proves that ALL of the elect shall believe the truth.

The Lord blesses His people, or the elect, with repentance. "The goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance." (Rom. 2:4) "Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for to GIVE repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins." (Acts 5:31)"

"The elect believe because they have the witness or Spirit of Truth within their hearts. Since the world cannot receive the Holy Ghost, only the elect receive the Holy Ghost or Comforter."

Some "Primitive Baptists" today still hold the old Regular Baptist view that the "new birth" comes in distinct stages, with "regeneration" being the first stage, "conviction" being the second, and "birth" the final stage.

Some "Primitives" still hold this view, it seems, because the affirmation of saying that all the elect, and regenerated (without the gospel), will eventually come to saving faith and repentance, through faith in the gospel, is basically the same view as the great leaders, or "founding fathers," of the Hardshell, Primitive, or Old School Baptist denomination.
