It has been affirmed by some that Elder Leland was one of those who helped to found the "Primitive Baptist" (Hardshell) denomination. I have shown from statements of Elder Leland that he was a soul winning evangelist, one who believed in means, in my ongoing book - "The Hardshell Baptist Cult," and such citations as that above also show that he was no Hardshell in heart.
