ACTS 17:11-"...IN THAT THEY RECEIVED THE WORD WITH ALL READINESS OF MIND, AND SEARCHED THE SCRIPTURES DAILY, WHETHER THOSE THINGS WERE SO."
Sep 12, 2008
Received = Born
"...as many as received (aorist) him...were born (aorist), not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1: 12, 13)
Would you agree with Daniel Wallace when he writes in "Greek Grammar, Beyond the Basics" on page 382 that when we read this about John 1:12
In John 1:12 those who received the word were Jews in Palestine who received Jesus into their homes and treated him as a true prophet. It is a historical statement, not a soteriological one.
It would appear from your post that you are wanting this to be soteriological and that you would disagree with Dr. Wallace, but I will not jump to conlucsions and so ask you where you stand on this.

Grace & Peace
Dear Mitch:
Of course I would disagree. Is "believing on his name" also non-soteriological? Is "born of God" not soteriological?
God bless and thanks for visiting and commenting.
